Steve L. Smith, O.D.

Steve L. Smith, O.D.

Dr. Smith is the co-owner and founder of Claremore Eye Associates and has been in private practice since 1973. He is active in the American Optometric Association and Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians. He is a past President of Southwest Council of Optometry, past secretary of the Oklahoma Optometric Foundation and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the OAOP from 1983-1999. He has served as President of the Oklahoma Board of Examiners, and he was selected as Oklahoma Optometrist of the Year in 1996. Dr. Smith attended Oklahoma State University and Southern College of Optometry. He received his Therapeutic Drug license in 1981 and his Anterior Segment Laser certification in 1993. He enjoys playing with his grandkids, golf, woodworking, and singing at First United Methodist Church. He has been happily married to his high school sweetheart, Linda, for 50 years. She is a nurse and wellness consultant. His younger daughter Lindsey is a NICU nurse and mom to young children, and older daughter, Lacy Crissup, joined him in practice in July 2009.

Dr. Crissup is co-owner of Claremore Eye Associates, joining her father Dr. Steve Smith in practice in 2009. She was raised in Claremore, and is excited to be a third generation health care provider here! Her maternal grandfather, the late Dr. E.E. Lacy, was a chiropractor in town for many years. Dr. Crissup graduated from Claremore High School and Oklahoma State University. She completed her doctorate at NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry. She obtained her board certification from the American Board of Optometry in July 2014. Dr. Crissup’s husband, Derrick, is a landman with Southbridge Production Company in Tulsa. They have two young children, Conner and Claire. Dr. Crissup enjoys dancing, cooking, shopping downtown Claremore and spending time with her family at their small farm.

James C. Stover, O.D.

James C. Stover, O.D.

Dr. James Stover is a long-time Claremore resident and has been practicing optometry since 1983. He graduated in the inaugural class from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. Dr. Stover is known for his technical excellence and sincere approach with his patients. Dr. Stover served on the Claremore School Board from 1985 to 2007. He has four children: Rhett, Mary, Cassie, and Lauren. He also has three grandchildren.Dr. Stover is a skilled and avid water and snow skier, and he also enjoys playing golf.
